Unfortunate events on skunk and rabbit couple long-waited wedding day.

THE DOMINANT CULTURAL / SOCIAL ISSUE FEATURED IN MY WORK IS:
Chinese bridal custom on lucky numbers/date

LOGLINE:
A skunk and rabbit couple who want to get married must go through some unfortunate on their wedding date.

SYNOPSIS:
Skunk and Rabbit is a happy couple who madly in love with each other for many years. Skunk is a beautiful with white tripped lines who bit of a shot tempered lady and on the other hand, Rabbit is an English Angora male who weight 2 times than general Angora; never heard before a word came out from his mouth. Despite the difference between their breeds and personality they never argue or even unhappy with their relationships.
However nothing could stop them to be together forever but their wedding date. They have waited 4 years to declare their eternal love on this very special date that they decided. Just one day before their wedding they need to prepare the wedding just as they dream it would be. However, they found more troubles by the day on their wedding day.

ACT 1 (SETUP)

SCENE 1: INT – FORTUNE TELLER SHOP – DAY

NARRATOR
Once upon a time there is  a silly couple who wants to get married to be together forever. Because they need to follow their tradition, they must ask the fortune teller to pick their marriage date.
At the fortune teller shop...

RABBIT & THE SKUNK staring at the fortune teller magic crystal ball


FORTUNE TELLER
(Rubbing the magic crystal ball)
I see... So then, your lucky date for your wedding has determined.

RABBIT
(looks exciting)
Umh...

SKUNK
(happy and excited)
So when is it Qigong (fortune teller)?? When is it??!! When is it??!! When is it??!!

FORTUNE TELLER
(Folding hands)
Apparently... you have to wait for 4 years, so it will be 8th August 2008.

SKUNK
(disappointed and pissed off face)
Huh?!? What?!? Seriously???! 4 years is too long to get married.

RABBIT
(calmly replying Skunk)
Don’t worry... 4 years is a short time when we are together... Why don’t we spend it traveling together..?

SKUNK
(passionately replying Rabbit)
Okay then, as long I’m with you..

And so the happy couple go back home to plan their 4 years pre-wedding romantic trip.

SCENE 2: EXTFRANCE, ROME, BALI (INDONESIA), PATTAYA (THAILAND) – DAY/NIGHT

NARRATOR
And so they spend 4 years travelling together...

RABBIT & THE SKUNK spending their 4 years together. They are going to Pattaya on the 1st year they are traveling around together, when the go cycling the Skunk cannot ride on bicycle so then Rabbit gives Skunk a ride all along the way. In the 2nd year they’re spending their trip in Bali swimming together on the beach. Because the Rabbit cannot swim, Skunk has to hold his hand while swimming. The latter year they travel to France spending their autumn together having romantic nights. And then their long awaited moment has finally comes to an end, and they choose Rome for their last remarkable destination. Having their romantic winter time viewing italian landscape.

SCENE 3: INT – CHURCH (CHANGING ROOM) DAY

 On the Rabbit & the Skunk ‘s marriage date. Their preparing themself for the ceremony. While RABBIT applying hair gel to grooms his messy fuzzy fur. Lady Skunk finishing her glamorous make up and adorns her wedding dress on the mirror.

RABBIT
(Grooming his hair on the mirror)
(Humming the wedding’s song)
Hummm...humm...humm...

SKUNK
(gracefully dancing around)
I cannot wait for the ceremony, i’m too exicited... Yippie...!!

SKUNK
(embarassed face)
(mumbling to herself)
Finally I can be together forever with my lovely Rabbit...

The beautiful sunny bright day is changing gradualy to a stormy day follow by lightnings

SKUNK
(worry and anxious)
Oh no, it’s raining. Is it a bad sign?
But I’m sure this is the day, anyway that’s what have been determined by the Qigong right?

V.O : RABBIT
(slightly worry looking at the window)
Hmm... it’s raining... probably it’s a bless from God.

NARRATOR
Dispite it’s starting to rain they still have strong will to continue their wedding.

SCENE 4: INT – CHURCH (WEDDING HALL) – DAY

the wedding hall is filled with joyful atmosphere from both family members, and the bishop is waiting at the altar. As the wedding song starts to play, the couple slowly march toward the altar with a smile on their face. On their way toward the altar...

SKUNK
(Whispering to Rabbit)
I cannot believe finally we will become husband and wife.
(giggle)

RABBIT
(nervously sweating and wipes his forehead)
....
Me too.

SKUNK
(Still chattering)
We will have a nice house, lots of children, and big happy family. And I hope you’ll get a proper job as soon as possible. I wish our sons will have your eyes, and our daughters will have my beautiful fur.


While Skunk is busy mumbling herself, Rabbit cannot help but to feels nervous by himself.

RABBIT
(cannot focus)
(Keeps on smiling)
(Stagy walk)



SCENE 5: INT – CHURCH (WEDDING ALTAR) – DAY

The couple have reached the altar and standing before the bishop

BISHOP
(calmly speaking)
Do you Rabbit take Skunk to be your wife?

RABBIT
(extremely nervous)
(wobbling)

The Rabbit is too nervous unfortunetly lost his balance and bump to Skunk, pushing her over the 4 tier wedding cake. Make a mess on her wedding dress. While Skunk falling off to her wedding cake, rabbit falls to the staircase and broke his arm.

RABBIT
(falling in the air)
Aaaaaaa….!!!

SKUNK
(Hit the face to the wedding cake)
Umph…

AUDIENCES
(shock looking at the accident)
(Chattering ambience)

RABBIT
(Fall on the ground, cannot standing up)
My paw!!! It’s bleeding!!!

BISHOP
(Runs towards Rabbit worry, try to help him standing)
What happened, are you okay?

AUDIENCES
(Panicking and help each other side)
(Some go to help, some standing up thinking about the situation)

SKUNK
(Rise from the mashed pile of cake)
 Oh no, my darling…

BISHOP
(Shout to the Skunk)
Call the ambulance now, hurry!!!

SCENE 6: INT – CHURCH (CHANGING ROOM) – DAY

The Skunk runs looking for a telephone and finds a local phone in the waiting room, while the others are busy giving first aid to the Rabbit.

V.O: SKUNK
(Picking the phone up on the wall, pressing the numbers hastily and wait for someone to answer)
Hurry picks up the phone, Faster. Oh My God!!!

SKUNK
(responding to the voice that comes from the phone, and answer it fast)
Hi, I need an ambulance now at the Great Owl Church.

NURSE
(calmly answer)
Calm down miss. Okay, we send it right away.

NARRATOR
Unfortunately, before Skunk have a chance to say thank you. Thunder struck the phone wire and sends an electric current to her body.

SKUNK
(got zap)
(Whole body shaking)

(Faint)

NARRATOR
In the end both of them got rushed to the near hospital by the ambulance that Skunk called.



SCENE 7: INT – HOSPITAL – NIGHT

Skunk and Rabbit lay down on the emergency’s bed next to each other.
Both families are wailing by the bed side. A doctor is checking on their condition, while a nurse is on a stand by.

DOCTOR
(Taking off the stethoscope from his ear, and hold it)
We are very sorry but we have to put them on a life support due to their critical condition

Suddenly the hospital goes blackout due to the thunder strikes. All the medical equipment shut down automatically. The beeping sound fills the room on put their family hopes to the ground.

SCENE 8: INT – HEAVEN – DAY

The angels singing and playing instrument. The peaceful scenery looks everywhere. From a far look Rabbit and the Skunk.

NARRATOR
Though they are dead already but because of their strong love power they can be together even at the heaven as well. They still have a strong will to continue their wedding.

SKUNK
(Worried)
Honey, are you okay?? What happen to us??!!

RABBIT
(Kneeling and presenting the wedding ring to Skunk)
I think we are not in our world already, but my love towards you won’t die along with our life. I hope I’m not late to say this.
Would you still marry me and stay together forever, here in our own paradise..?

NARRATOR
And so they celebrate their beautiful wedding in heaven, finding their eternal love in the afterlife. And this story ends happily ever after.
